Mobile application usage activity declines in 2017, says Flurry Analytics

According to a study by Flurry Analytics, overall session application activity grew by just six per cent in 2017 as against 11 per cent in 2016. Although the growth has reduced, users continued to diversify their behaviour while using mobile applications.

For the study, Flurry tracked more than one million applications across 2.6 billion devices globally. As per the report, users spend more than five hours on their smartphones everyday.

The shopping category grew 54 per cent year-on-year as consumers continue to shift their spending into e-commerce sites through mobile applications. Media and entertainment segment grew by 43 per cent yearly, recording the second highest growth rate.

As per the report, Android manufacturers comprise two thirds of all active devices whereas Apple has a market share of 34 per cent of active devices, the highest for any individual player.
