Bharti Airtel selects Huawei Technologies for deployment of multi-radio technologies

January 11, 2018

Bharti Airtel has stated that it has partnered with Huawei Technologies and has deployed three radio technologies namely GSM, universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS), long term evolution (LTE) on the 900 MHz band within an 8.8 MHz spectral bandwidth in a bid to significantly improve its LTE coverage. Further, the operator has used Huawei’sCloudAIR solution to deliver a better 4G experience to its customers.

Bharti Airtel stated that Huawei's CloudAIR gives it the ability to deploy LTE within the same 900 MHz frequency alongside GSM and UMTS. This will improve its LTE coverage significantly, which means that the customers can now have access to superior data experience and HD voice quality even in indoor locations.

Meanwhile, Huawei has stated that its CloudAIR technology offers spectrum cloudification to allow different radio access technologies to share spectrum resources dynamically instead of using traditional spectrum sharing solutions. This works via an on-demand spectrum allocation method replacing static allocation, which enables Bharti Airtel’s 900 MHz spectrum to serve GSM, UMTS and LTE simultaneously.

Earlier, the mobile operator had partnered with Huawei to deploy massive multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) technology to significantly increase spectrum efficiency and increase capacity in certain circles.
